Happiness is......

Happiness is finding a pair of sunglasses on the street... this man was so chuffed to find something he liked.
He did a little dance and paid without hassle.

Old School Gentleman.

Walking through the arts and craft street in Malindi, Kenya, there are stalls upon stalls all selling various wares. Sitting quietly on a locally designed chair was this gentleman looking relaxed and stately . He did not seem to worry if you walked past his stall as he was so laid back observing the crowds. If you stopped, he would nod quietly and let you look at his items in peace. All so calm and gentle compared to the frantic calls from the other stall holders. 'Old school' as they would say. It really made you want to buy from him - no pressure.

Hotels dulux...

While travelling to Mombassa by car we passed these signs for hotels. We wondered about the first and thought it was for nature lovers and the second, although 'gracious', we would give it a miss. The Man Eaters Lodge sign post took our fancy and we decided to pay it a visit. It was in a beautiful setting by a river and we were told it received its name when the government built the railway line from Nairobi to Mombassa. At night the lions would come out and have a meal of one of the railway workers. Not a nice thought but they told me it was true and they were sticking to their story for it made for a good one. I would make sure that the door to our room was locked when I turned in for the night - you know - just in case.

A good bite and a gentle kiss.

oh sooooo close!!!

While having sundowners at Giraffe Mannor in Kenya we were entertained by the home dog and the warthogs who were wondering around. I felt sorry for the wild creatures as the dog chased them and tried to give one a nip but the warthog only allowed a certain amount of nonsense from the dog before he retaliated and the dog ran for his life. A good game for them both I am sure.

Also roaming around the grounds where giraffe. This beautiful and gentle creature gave me a kiss. Actually you hold a pellet in your mouth and she ever so gentle takes it from you - hence the kiss. Her mouth was soft and hairy. It was so much fun... My husband wanted to know if the Giraff was a better kisser... ha ha...not telling....When feeding the giraffe by hand the tongue would come out and take the food, leaving your palm full of saliva which I believe acts like an antiseptic. We learn something everyday. Pity it does not act as a skin repair moisturizer and rejuvenator - I would be there!!
