Garden Exhibition - Zimbabwe

The chair below is made from Old Tonga Doors made by the locals from Victoria Falls.
More comfortable than they look.
With the lack of money, power and water in Zimbabwe, it was a pleasure to see all the effort that went into this Garden Exhibition here in Harare.

The smiling face painted on a few tyres brought a smile to our faces.

A quiet rose corner - perfect for a cuppa.
White Petunias gave a cool effect to the hot day
Beautiful terracotta clay pots for every garden

This corner display using old wheels and pots.
The white stones are very useful

A great  hand made "Tin" Owl - very clever of the locals.

Lions of Africa.

Magnificent creature.

These lions were so relaxed that they did not mind up being so close.

Jacaranda Season.

The Jacaranda trees are out in bloom and looking lovely. I particularly liked the forms the branches portrayed when I lay down and looked up..

I you go to my fineartamerica.com page you will see how wonderful they look made up as cushions.

Time to sleep..

'Lets go to sleep here. No matter that it is in the middle of the Royal Mile... lots of noise and uncomfortable...... just soooooo tired and we have no hotel..'

The Saw Man

Strolling along the Royal Mile in Scotland I heard this beautiful haunting music. Off I set to find the source and low and behold I came across 'The Saw Man' as he called himself. Sitting on his stool looking pensive and absorbed in his music. I have never seen this before so I was fascinated at the sounds he was achieving with his bow and this saw.... amazing. I only wished he had had a CD for me to purchase.

When did you last see sideburns like these?

Smoking on the street...

Street smokers..

Due to most places being "a smoke free" zone the smokers have now taken to the streets. My mother once told me that one should not smoke, chew gum or eat on the street – as it is considered bad manners. My how times have changed. I have sympathy for the smokers and I am not a smoker myself. The non smokers get special places – why not the smokers. Equal rights or something like that. We can always make our own choices - so if the bar, restaurant or wherever has a smokers area then you have the choice of whether to be there or not. Is there really a right, wrong or fair way for all? Pro’s and con’s and so on and so on. We can’t please everyone and should we want to smoke and pollute our lungs then that should be our choice BUT I am not really getting in to all of this as there have been arguments going back and forth for years. Only..... smokers please be careful how you walk around with your ‘ciggie’ - accidentally burning a hole into someone's Armani would not be taken to very kindly

Around a corner........

Come on - not another ciggie...its fresh air time.

Oh well - it's a good a place as any for my break.

 Watch out for the bag...

The fellow passing behind does not look so happy....

Left to carry the chairs...

She was left with the chairs to carry.
After a long day she was not so happy.

"Really guys - do I have to carry these?"
